DANSK BIOTEK was founded in 1987 to further the conditions for biotechnological research and production in Denmark.
Since then, DANSK BIOTEK has primarily been active on two fronts: An ongoing dialogue with authorities and as an authoritative voice in the public debate about biotechnological issues.
DANSK BIOTEK has contributed to the creation of legislations and regulations on biotechnological research, production and patenting in Denmark and Europe.
Furthermore, DANSK BIOTEK has taken initiatives to increase public knowledge of modern biotechnology. This includes publications of books and articles, and participation in the public debate and education about conditions for biotechnological research, genetic modification, bioethics, etc.
DANSK BIOTEK has recently recruited a selection of new members from the a growing number of research-based biotechnology companies. This change in member composition marks a new era in the Danish biotechnology industry where many small companies have emerged, either as spin-outs from established companies or based on university research.
It is the vision of DANSK BIOTEK that Denmark will be the best country in the world to drive biotechnological research and production, and that the marked value of the biotechnological industries in Denmark will have doubled by the year 2010 because of increased production, export, employment and product development.
DANSK BIOTEK is working to ensure the best possible conditions for research, development and production for the biotechnological companies in Denmark.
